Title: Aku, Soku, Zan
Medium: Pencil & Ink, Adobe Photoshop 5.5
Future Plans: None

Saitoh Hajime is my favorite part of the "Rurouni Kenshin" series - one of
my favorite parts of anime, actually. Visually, not as much sparkle or flash as some
characters, but I like the way he always looked on the edge, like he was just about
to snap. I was also intrigued when I found out Saiitoh was an actual person, although
there is some debate as to how accurate the character depicted in "Rurouni Kenshin"
was. But we do know Saiitoh was in the Shinsen Gumi, and he was noted for having a
powerful technique similar to the "Gatotsu" move seen in the anime. Supposedly, after
the Meiji Revolution, he did join the Ishin Shishi under the name Fujita Goro. Freaky.
As for the piece, I have mixed feelings. It was one of the first pieces I ever
colored on with Photoshop, and the results were fair. I like the large portrait, especially
the eyes, but the smaller figure I'm ashamed of. The sword looks way out of perspective,
and the face is just plain awkward. It was definitely a mistake to give the smaller
figure blue eyes, I should've just left them filled in black. But, if I ever decide
to draw another Saiitoh piece, I'll know better for next time.
